KYBELLA® is a prescription injectable medication indicated for improvement in the appearance of moderate to severe convexity or fullness associated with submental fat in adults with minimal to no skin laxity. Patients with severe skin laxity and platysma muscle bands may consider alternative treatments, such as neck lift. Most patients require 3-4 treatments, spread at 8-week intervals between treatments for optimal results.
Limitation of use: The safe and effective use of KYBELLA for the treatment of subcutaneous fat outside the submental region
has not been established and is not recommended. It is FDA approved for use in patients who are 18 years of age or older.
Patients considering Kybella® treatment should be in good health and have realistic expectations. Patients who have submental convexity due to excess preplatysmal fat with minimal to no skin laxity and wish to improve their neck contour. Patients who are pregnant, considering pregnancy or nursing mothers, have active skin infection at the planned injection area, should not use Kybella®. Also patients with history of difficulty swallowing or previous surgery in the submental region should not use Kybella®
Most patients tolerate the procedure well in an office setting. Some swelling and bruising are common but resolve over few days. Mild discomfort is relieved with oral over the counter Motrin or Tylenol.Full List of Non-Surgical Procedures
